what are some good books with the background of famous sayings?

i’m a history major, focusing on mythology, legends, ect., and i was looking for a good book that talked about the origins of famous Sayings. i’ve looked up a few similar things, like the middle finger and why a hairline is called a “widow’s peak” and i absolutely love learning about this stuff! and the book doesn’t have to be about sayings, but any matter of subject as long as it has a very interesting background.
